Image Requirements

In most cases, VacayHome Connect pulls your property's photos directly from your property management software (PMS), via the API. In order to help you make your listings shine, we have put together a list of image recommendations. 

These recommendations are also reflected in our quality check in the VacayHome Connect client portal. 

Image Guidelines

Photos should be: 

• Minimum: 1200 x 1200 pixels
• Recommended: 2880 pixels wide and above
• Orientation: Horizontal or landscape; vertical or portrait images may be cropped to fit.
• Format(s): Check with your PMS to determine the file types that they support. 
• Number: We recommend a minimum of 25 photos per property.

When uploading photos, consider the requirements of the distribution sites where you will be listing. Some listing sites require larger photos. For example, Expedia requires photos that are a minimum of 2880 pixels wide; photos that are smaller may be rejected. 

Cover Photos

The cover photo is the picture that will be used to create thumbnails for a property on your listings. It will be your guests' first introduction to the home. You may also hear the cover photo referred to as the hero image or primary photo. 

Cover photos are typically assigned during the implementation process, however if you have updated a property's photos and would like to change the cover photo, you have the ability to make the change manually. 

Log into your VacayHome Connect client portal, and follow these steps to update a property's cover photo:

1. Click on Properties in the left-hand menu to view the property list.
2. Search for the property that you would like to update, and click on the property name to open the property details page. 
3. Click on Photos in the left-hand menu, to see all of the photos loaded for a property. 
4. In the top Cover Photo section, click the Change photo button. This will open a pop-up menu that allows you to star the image you wish to use for your cover photo. 
5. Click the star in the upper left corner of an image to set it as the cover photo. 
6. Click the Save button to save your changes. 

This is the image that will be used as the thumbnail or hero image on the property's listings. 

Synching Photos

If you have made changes to a property's photos in your PMS, VacayHome Connect will sync the images automatically, however you do have the ability to perform a manual image sync. 

Navigate to your Property List in the VacayHome Connect client portal, and follow these steps to sync a property's images:

1. Locate the property whose images you would like to sync in the list. 
2. Click on the three dots to the far right of the property's details to view sync options. 
3. Click Sync > Sync images, to update the property's photos. 

NOTE: Depending on the number of images that are assigned to a property, it can take several minutes for the image sync to complete. There is no need to sync images more than once, this can actually delay the update. The sync will run in the background while you complete other tasks in the client portal.
